San Francisco native Joan Aragone (joanaragone@gmail.com) is a journalist, editor and educator whose love of travel began when she joined the Peace Corps and lived in the rural Philippines. She has taught at the high school and university levels, including two years teaching journalism at a university in Beijing, and worked as a reporter and feature writer on newspapers and magazines covering a variety of topics.  Her weekly column on health and aging ran for more than 10 years in the San Mateo County Times, Bay Area News Group, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her freelance work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Contra Costa Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Asian Business, Toronto Globe and Mail, California Physician, Landscape Architecture, Vegetarian Times, and other publications.
